Motion while freezing time
by Brian Brophy on Aug 12, 2009
Several comments here on motion while freezing time. This effect which was made popular by the GAP commercials in which the dancers froze while the camera spun around them was not created in AE (at least not completely). It is obtianed by creating a rig of Digital still cameras positioned every few inches around the room, then they all fire simultaneously. When the frames are put in sequence the effect is a time freeze with panning. Pretty cool but very difficult to achieve without a major budget.
Hello, I love this tutorial and I will try this. I have seen a commercial that froze time than the angle panned left. How was that effect done while keeping both shots equally panning at the same time ?
I think that is effect is really cool and I'm glad that this tutorial is here. As the previous post mentioned, the same question of moving objects while suspended arises for me too. If any new technique is learned to make this happen it would be great if that was posted. Thanks again for the awesome tutorial.
I love this effect and so does everyone else but after people watch this effect they always ask "is it possible to freeze time, move somthing like the boxes and have time unfreeze with a differnt reaction?" Is that even possible in AE? If so that could make a really cool tutirial.
