Article Focus: In this tutorial, Creative Cow Contributing Editor Carl Larsen will show you how to use offset tracking to analyze the motion of an object over time.
Really basic possible ansower: Do you have the freeze frame layer soloed? If you do, the black could be your alpha channel. Make sure the toggle transparency switch at the bottom of the comp window is activated to show the grid if you want to see the transparency.
Stupid Question, but when I go to mask out the object, my mask turns everything black besides what is in it. How do I set my pen tool to mask out the freeze frame while making everything around it transparent?
In theory, the difference key should work, but your millage will vary in actual use. The mask, however, is guaranteed to work. Thanks for the suggestion!
Although its a little work, thats a nice technique. Well explained and good use of the AE Tracker,(which was a long time not a good friend of mine:)
One thing came to into my mind: If this shoot would have been from a stillstanding tripod, would it be possible to detect the motionpath of the moving object with one of the TimeFX inside AE?
I did already some tests but couldnt figure out how to freeze the frames inside one layer, so in the end I would have a lot of duplicates again...
Thanx for one of the best toots I've seen lately. It blows my mind just thinking about the infinite combinations and applications we could use this technique with. Thanx once again.
