If you haven't watched the podcast "per-character 3D Text" it talks about working in the world of 3D text animation.
In it you'll learn how to make the text animatable in 3D on a per-character basis.
Once you make the layer animateable in that way, just add a rotation animator, and you'll see that there is an option for rotation on the X, Y and Z axis. from there, if you've you've followed text tips 2 and 3, you already know how to animate using an animator.

I know thereare only a finite umber of techniques and methods you can cover in a 5-10 minute slot, but something which I've gone through pretty much all your tutorials through, well the ones I can understand, is how to rotate text characters in the y direction. It may sound simple and a joke for someone of your knowledge, but believe me I've tried almost all your methods but I'm lost. Any tips/advice would be much appreciated.
