Re: Creating an Automated Odometer: Part 1
by Kelly Rivera
I used your 3pt tutorial for creating an odometer in AE to create a slot machine effect for text. I happen to have a 4 word text so it worked perfectly. I didn't follow your tutorial to a T because I didn't need the same speed as the odometer, I wanted all of them to go different speeds but all some what fast and then created them to stop on a certain word. I have a 9 letter word now and it isn't working quite the same when I set the cc cylinder effect, it is only showing 3 rows of my nine. Any suggestions on how to create 9 rows and allowing 26 letters plus a blank space? I want to have it spin then a few sec stop on a word spin again then stop on a different word.

With multiple VFX Oscars (Hugo and Titanic, plus a nomination for Apollo 13) plus a couple of Emmys (Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) under his belt, the most remarkable thing about Rob Legato's latest VFX extravaganza is that it doesn't appear to have any VFX at all! Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street is a masterpiece of what has become known as invisible effects, and this article from our friends at Imagineer, highlighting Rob's work with mocha, is a real eye-opener.
