Sure, just add a bunch of "2008" stings with a space after each one, then skip the "Character Offset" animation. It might look strange though because the minimum string will be 4 digits long, but maybe you can use smaller font size to compensate
Digits Man, part 1 numbers change into other numbers
by Kathelijne Deramault
Hello,
I made the tutorial Digits Man, part 1 & 2. This is a great tutorial. I used the numbers 2008, but the numbers change into other numbers in the animation. Is it possible to have the same animation like in the tutorial, but so that the numbers always be 2008?
Sorry for my bad English, but i am Flamish (Belgium)
Thanks,

Kathelijne

hello, i have a question. I want to use words that come randomly. I have changed: range selector, advanced, based on--> words, but then I see the letters randomly (also letters that I don't use in my words, so you can't read the words anymore) What do I do wrong? I have tried over and over, but it doesn't work. Can you help me please??

Animating Text - Question from a Student Animator
by Joe Klepacki
Is it possible to create a similar effect to text as seen in Digits Man but instead using words (or in my particular case First and Last Names), while preserving the word/name itself? That is, making the word/names jump around in a seemingly random order without scrambling each constituent character?

Thanks for responding so fast, but I have a further quick question. Is it possible to keep each word in tact? That is, say I have a line that reads "Jon Doe Joe Smith Jim Parker". Is there a way to animate the offsetting of words so say in the next frame it reads "Joe Smith Jim Parker Jon Doe" and perhaps "Jim Parker Jon Doe Joe Smith" in the following frame, so on and so forth?

Love the tutorial Eran. Great digit-art, attacked with some humor. I'll have to upgrade to CS3, but I will find a good use for your tut. Hope to see part 2 very soon. Thnx.

As far as I know you can't do this trick with version 7, only AE CS3 has this 3d character ability

great and easy to realize! Nice done.

When I use 1000x1000 px. for the letters I can only write up to the middle of the layer. I used 500x500 and it worked. DO you (or somebody else) know how to do it right or is it my computer that is to slow? Maybe it

AE - RE:MATCH Non-matching Cameras in After Effects

AE - RE:MATCH Non-matching Cameras in After Effects
  Play Video
In this tutorial, Andrew Devis demonstrates a relatively new plug-in by RE:Vision Effects called RE:Match and how it can very quickly and accurately deal with the very common problem of non-matching cameras in After Effects. A typical approach to dealing with say a white balance issue would be to apply Color Finesse 3 and work with that which can be a slightly convoluted process, while RE:Match deals with the whole thing in a couple of clicks! This very powerful effect can save a great deal of time for an everyday problem and so earn its cost back very quickly as well as giving excellent and fast results. There is another tutorial showing how this effect works in Premiere Pro as there is a slightly different way the two applications deal with reference images.

This tutorial is both a follow-on tutorial to Andrew's previous tutorials on IK controllers in After Effects and a helpful stand-alone tutorial showing how to define a beat range to use as a guide to animation in After Effects. To start with Andrew shows how to use a simple expression to deal with a potential problem of controllers scaling your objects. Then Andrew shows how to find and download sample music which can be used to base your animation on. He goes on to discuss the difficulty of matching frame rates with audio sample rate and then shows how to get a reasonably close 'loop' in both After Effects and especially in Audition.

AE: Inverse Kinematic Character Animation

AE: Inverse Kinematic Character Animation
  Play Video
Standard character animation in After Effects uses a process called 'Forward Kinematics' in that we animate down a linked chain - for example, upper arm linked to forearm linked to hand. To get animation we need to move the items down the chain one at a time. Inverse Kinematics creates a link back up the chain such that moving the hand would also move the forearm and the upper arm without breaking that link. This is a simpler and easier to control form of animation often used in 3D programs such as C4D and 3ds max etc. and allows us to control the animation for the complete chain through a single controller.
