Back in AE 4.0 or 5.0 days, there was a fantastic project file publicly available that did this effect, but all through built-in features in AFX, no smoke video file required. At the time it DID require a popular plug-in set who's name is escaping me at the moment. (Cine.. something?) (...CultFX?)
But then Adobe bought that plug-in company, slightly changed the plug in names, and thus the 'template' was no longer functioning :-(.
If somebody is able to manually recreate the project for AFX CS3, that would be of much benefit!
Great Tutorial. All the tutorials you've done have helped me greatly. I like others couldn't find a smoke movie. Then I remembered I had the Riot Gear disk from VideoCopilot(Andrew Kramer). On the Riot Gear disk there is a section called Ink Flows which are perfect for the smoke. The disk is filled with alot of good stuff and is well worth the price. Hope this helps the smoke seekers. Again thanks Eran for your great tutorials. Bill Carboni
Thanks so much for the quick reply Eran. AE 6.5 is all good up until changing my smoking footage from none to alpha matte, AE 6.5 dosent seem to have that option. Thanks.
Unfortunately I can't UL the smoke footage, It is not mine to share. You can get it if you have Apple Final Cut Studio, it is on the Content DVD.
But you can also create some nice smoke footage using Fractal Noise effect inside AE. Another good starting point is to call up 'Fog Light' Animation Preset from inside AE Effects & Presets window.
I got a small Problem I really like this effect but I'm unable to find a smoke footage. Maybe some of you know a download link for smoke footage or Eran could you maybe add a smoke footage as download?! Would be great, because I'd really like to recreate this effect.
