Creating a Run Cycle in After Effects Part 2
| Adobe After Effects Tutorial at Creative COW |
Article Focus: In the second part of this two part tutorial on creating a basic run cycle (or walk cycle) in After Effects, Andrew Devis continues where he left off in the first tutorial by showing how to use a simple expression to save a great deal of time and effort when key-framing you characters. Andrew demonstrates how this saves time and allows for easy and pain free adjustments of the keyframes. Andrew then goes on to show how to animate the running character to give the illusion that it is actually running through your scene in various ways. |
The included project file is of the completed animation for your reference (CS5 and above only). If you wish to practice, then download and use the project file attached to Part One, which has no animation applied. Additionally, if you want to also practice your parenting skills then download the project attached to AE Basics 16: Parenting, which has a version of the character at a very early stage.
