Hi, Michael...

The "Why" of the tutorial begins with an intern asking me how to make a 3D Box. She is using the COW to learn AE basics, but hadn't found that particular tutorial there, so I made one.

The point of the tutorial isn't necessarily to build a box, but to gain a "hands-on" understanding of the process; then to develop and apply the techniques learned to far more advanced and creative efforts. For example, our intern's efforts have evolved into a rather complex 3D building.

I sincerely do regret that you found the tutorial so upsetting...
I suppose that's why the COW includes a Title and Description with each tutorial, so one can determine whether or not to watch.

I'm confused guys. It's 2013, AE has been out for quite some time now. And this site is still being updated with new tutorials about extremely outdated techniques that have been covered HUNDREDS of times across the interwebs for the past 7 years. Building a 3D box? REALLY?

This technique has been around so long we have scripts to do it for us now.

Why is this being put out as a new tutorial. This is common knowledge and there are plenty of resources online to tell you how to make a box in AE, I don't think we need another one.Seriously, I'm irrationally mad after seeing this.

Please can we put out new content instead of regurgitating the same old stuff everyone has seen time and time again. It's not 1998 anymore. I'm sorry if this comes off a little aggressive but it just blows my mind. It's 2013, the software is incredibly more sophisticated then it was and we still have box tutorials being made.

Back in 2007 I use to come to the COW everyday for tutorials, but now the COW has been pretty much left in the dust in terms of putting out solid AE tutorials focused around motion graphic techniques. It's just the same old stuff, over and over and over.

And I don't know why but the skill rating said 8/10, which this is no where close too. More like 3/10.
