Rotoscoping with Mocha for AE Part 2: Track & Adjust Tracks
  Play Video
In this second of 3 tutorials on Rotoscoping with Mocha for AE, Andrew Devis looks at tracking elements on different planes and then adjusting those tracks with a couple of different methods. Andrew also tracks one element which is squashing and stretching and so requires a different approach to adjusting the track than with an element that is staying about the same throughout the shot. In the final tutorial, Andrew will show how to create the shapes that will form the final rotoscope layers in After Effects and how to link those to the tracks that have been created for excellent results.

You have a perfect clip for the project. The scene is right, the weather is perfect, the camera move is nice, but there is a clearly-recognizable person walking across the street. And you do not have a release from that person or time to ask for one. Not to fear: you can still save the shot with Boris Continuum Complete's Motion Key tool.

Creating Transitions with BCC 6 AE's Swish Pan Filter

Creating Transitions with BCC 6 AE's Swish Pan Filter
  Play Video
Editors use transitions as a way to cut between scenes, typically creating an animated effect such as a dissolve or blur at the end of the outgoing clip and the beginning of the incoming clip. While most modern NLE systems ship with standard wipe transitions, there are some transition styles that are more of an in-camera effect rather than a synthesized gradient wipe or block dissolve. One of these effects, known as a Swish Pan, is created by panning the camera very quickly in a 180 degree arc, creating the look of a fast blur between the outgoing and incoming clips. Continuing in the tradition of making visual effects easy to create, Boris Continuum Complete 6 AE now includes a Swish Pan transition filter which is available free for registered BCC 6 AE users. In this video tutorial, we'll use the new BCC 6 Swish Pan filter to transition between a pair of clips.

This new video tutorial shows you the basics of using BCC Extruded Text in Adobe After Effects. BCC Extruded Text belongs to the 3D Objects category of filters which is new to Boris Continuum Complete 6. These stunning OpenGL-based filters use vertex and pixel shaders that enable the generation of animated 3D shatter, bulge, bend, taper, twist, ripple, and wave effects. You can also create reflection or texture maps for the generated 3D text - from any image or video clip in the AE timeline.

Sometimes its the simple things that are the most fun. Start with a good still, mix in some motion tracking for a logo element, animate six layer of clown fish and sprinkle lightly with effects. Finally try to make a tutorial out of it and spend three times longer on the tutorial than the project. Thats just what happened to CreativeCOW member Jay Thompson.
