BET Signs on to Market7

BET Networks has signed on to Market7's software-as-service, a browser-based, in-the-cloud suite of tools for a more collaborative production workflow. BET is using the service for dailies and review-and-approval for six or seven TV shows. Market7 is also adding watermarking to improve security and build confidence for working with a cloud-based solution.

Blackmagic Design's Grant Petty: We Want to Blow Your Mind

Blackmagic Design Founder and CEO Grant Petty has earned a reputation as one of the industry's straightest shooters, leading one of the industry's consistently disruptive companies. While he doesn't shy away from controversy, what shines through Grant's conversation is his love for this industry, and, as he puts it, his goal of "blowing people's minds." We're pleased to let him tell you about it in his own words in this energetic recorded interview.

COACM: The Application is Dead. Long Live the App!

While tablets might seem like a bit of a gratuitous topic for media producers, the fact is that the smartphone and tablet markets have created an entirely new reality for software publishers and users, and it seems like the value proposition for application software is forever changed. There's Something in the Air

There's Something in the Air

In this 25th Issue of Creative COW Magazine, we've done something that we've never done before, which is to feature individual stories, rather than draw attention to an overall theme. We still have a theme, of course, so please allow Tim Wilson to introduce this issue by its official name: In the Air. We thought about calling it "On the Air," just in time for NAB, but we're doing more than just talk about broadcast. This issue is a look at, not just the changes that are coming to our industry, but also the changes that are already here. Your future may well have shown up already.

Are you sure that this is a good idea?

Are you sure that this is a good idea?

When we started with Creative COW Magazine, we mostly knew what we didn't want to do: the tutorials and reviews that were the hallmark of other magazines. Why bother? We already had literally thousands of them online. Instead, we made the same choice that had made such a difference online: focus on people. In fact, we've asked over 120 of them to tell us their stories since we started. Most have never written anything for public consumption before, but their expertise and their passion spring off the page.
