The COW was just introduced to one of the coolest new creative tools we've seen in a while, PLOTAGRAPH PRO, a tool which powerfully animates still images. Imagine animating your still images to become full high resolution video -- all the way up to 4K. This goes way beyond the kind of still image tricks that video artists have used in the past. Years ago, Ken Burns pushed simple scaling animations of still images using Rostrum Camera techniques in his productions for PBS, seen in documentaries like "The Civil War," "Jazz" and others. Then along came animating areas of images to create the illusion of perspective and dimension, the pseudo 3D effect we've seen used on still images. Now Plotagraph Pro creates still image animations that set a new and much higher benchmark for animating stills. Check out this video tutorial for more about Plotagraph Pro.

The journey itself was difficult, but the hardest part may have been the only thing that made it all possible: asking for help. This is a truly inspiring story with tons of real-world examples of how to accomplish what feels impossible at the time.
Immersive media is not new. Emerging technologies, such as VR and AR as we currently know them, are simply part of an evolutionary path making media more immersive. Many commentators and industry professionals became cynical after the short life-cycle of Stereoscopic 3D, and are hesitant to embrace VR, calling it another fad. International award-winning engineer, editor, colorist, VFX artist, stereoscopic 3D artist, and Head of Operations at Auckland's Department of Post, Katie Hinsen sees it differently. These technologies are simply steps within a much wider ecosystem, says Katie, where it's the combination of failures and successes that lead us towards what immersive media is to become.
