Hey Rob, thanks for a great tutorial. I'm using the CC version. When I get to bit where the wipe comes across and the sand falls, the sand on the floor disappears as the wipe moves . I noticed a GREEN horizontal line in the wipe which appears to be the width of the fallen sand and as it moves so the floor sand disappears. How can I adjust this, please?

Hi Rob, I too am trying to achieve this effect in CS3,...however,...I don't see the red circle around my particles and I follow your steps but my text always stays on the screen and the particles never take the shape of the letters? Any help is very much appreciated, thanks!

Hi, Kurt... sorry for delayed response, just back from NAB. I don't believe CS3 shows the red circle; but it only indicates the area where particles will be produced. Make sure the Particle Color Map is set to an Origin setting, i.e. Death, Birth, or Constant.

Hi, Ron...
On your CS4 Particle World Effect:
Look at the top of the effect panel and click Options.
On the Options Menu click Rendering.
The controls for the floor are labeled: Floor is.
It is a different interface, but the controls are all there.
Please let me know if this helps or if you have any trouble with it.

ok i have cs4 and cs5....in cs4 i have the particle world but the floor button is not the same..i don't have any of the setting as you do....in cs5 i don't even have particle world...it has no cc..effects

I should have specified moving the Particle Producer on the Z Position.

Hi, Jason...
Sorry about that line... it seems that it's a consequence of the Z position... almost like a separator between positive and negative values. I found that moving the position of the particle producer forward or backward resolved it. If this doesn't line up with your camera angle, then you may have to move the Text Wipe layer accordingly. I also found that a slight change of camera angle can eliminate it.

Thanks for the great tutorial! After I finished the first part of the tutorial, I noticed a black horizontal line in the pile of particles on the floor. I turned the grid off and set the effect to "full render" in the options. I am using CS4 on Windows 7. I noticed this line on your tutorial video as well. Do you know how to get rid of this black horizontal line in the final render? Thanks.

Hi, Marion...
Before you render, go to the top of the Particle World settings, and set Grid to Off.
Now you can render without those other elements.
Glad you enjoy the tuts... Part 2 should be out in a week or so.

Was able to do the tutorial in CS3. When I render the mov I can see all the marks such as the x and vertical line in the finished movie. Using a PC but have never had a problem before in other tutorials. Am not sure how to correct the problem. Can I fix this? May do the first sand portion over to see if there is an incorrect setting. Lots of fun doing all the different ideas you shared.

Hello again, Dave...
I did do the tutorial in CS5; however you can achieve these same effects in CS4... you just have to access the controls through the Options Menu. Go to the top of the Particle World parameters in the Effects Panel and click Options. This will open an Options Menu. Click on Rendering to reveal Rendering Options including:
Floor is: Ignored; Ice; Glue; Bounce.
