Re: H.264 Matrox Webinar

Hmmm - a webinar from a video hardware manufacturer without video?
Basically a glorified PowerPoint demonstration which means you can't really evaluate the results of the hardware encoder (which were all shown as low quality web images) - which was my primary reason for watching. Also no demo on how it works straight out of FCP, Avid or Premiere.
Basically could have been done in 10 minutes instead of 60 plus.
Here's what I'd like to see: downloadable comparison videos between Episode Pro 2 Pass and Matrox at all resolutions, especially at lower data rates that usually challenge hardware encoders - eg if you have to drop your Blu-Ray down to 11Mb/s to fit it in - which encoder works better. Forget Compressor - I get way better results our of the aging ProCoder.
Comparison with x64 based i7 machines for timing. I suspect Matrox will still beat even the beefiest 6 core i7 machine by some distance but would like to see the results.
Real world demos of how to encode MPEG2 long GOP XDCam material (which you can't QT ref) out of all the major editors (FCP and Avid, then to a lesser extent Premiere and Vegas) without going to a third party encoder.
The MAX looks great but this webinar is not worth the visit - just go to Matrox's page - all the same info is aready there and much quicker to access.
All thats holding me back from buying one is the inability to get straight out of Avid on a PC.

I found that very informative - Well actually - it just turned mud into clear ice.

I think your webinar was very informative and shame on whoever voted no at the end. I watched it while I begin a 20 hour wait on a project to "cook". When finances pick up, I will certainly purchase the card. Thanks Francesco and Wayne!

Nobody knows this better than Rob Shore, who began his filmmaking career in 2005, honing his skills as a creative director with an in-house video team in Washington D.C. before establishing his own video production company, Picture This Productions in 2015. Adobe's Eric Philpott spoke to Rob about the challenges of storytelling when it’s someone else’s story.
