Very useful info!

Just a couple of presentation notes.

1. Slow down and/or leave a little pause among steps. This will facilitate pausing the video while we try out the steps.

2. Especially with the fast pace, the inclusion of the command and option key commands become distracting. Maybe, just put up a (smaller) graphic and omit the verbal description.

Wow, you really re-created the original Star Wars hologram message look!

Les

Apple Motion 5: Slot Machine Text Generator, Part 2

In Part 2 of a tutorial with its origins in a recent thread in Creative COW's Apple Motion forum, longtime VFX artist, editor, software developer, and business owner Simon Ubsdell plays with some variations on the theme of animating the dials of a slot machine. In particular, he says, "I want that really nice slow-down effect that you have with some slot machines, where you agonizingly discover that you’ve got the wrong value, and that you’ve lost still more money." Don't miss the bonus tips clip that follows, too!

Apple Motion 5: Crystal Spheres

Apple Motion 5 has many powerful compositing and graphics features, but its 3D feature set is, alas, limited. (For those keeping score, it's only 2.5D). Simon Ubsdell applies his his VFX and motion graphics expertise to cleverly working around those limitations by exploiting the best of Motion's behaviors, filters, lights, cameras, blend modes, refractions, and more -- along with everything you'll need to customize the effect to your liking, and to deepen your own Motion skills.
