In this tutorial, Andrew Devis shows how easy it is to create, add materials to, animate and lip-sync a head in Autodesk 3ds max using the plug-ins from Di-O-Matic called 'Facial Studio' and 'Voice-O-Matic'. Andrew goes through the basics of this plug-in just to show how easy and quick it is to use and how powerful it can be - not to mention just how much time it can save you!

Hi Joel

Sorry you feel that way, I have only done about 5 3ds max tuts and the other 4 are all on the basic program without using a plug-in. In fact, I seldom cover plug-ins because I know that not many people can afford them but at times it seems right to give a little coverage to a product that can save a lot of time and money. Facial studio is about $499 http://www.di-o-matic.com/products/Software/FacialStudio/#page=pricing and sometimes it is even less when Di-O-Matic do a special offer, but I understand that this price will mean that some people never get to use it.

That said, don't give up on the COW as there are lots of great tuts which don't use any plug-ins and you can just skip those that do. For example, all my AE Basics and PP Basics tuts are based on the program alone without any plug-ins.

All the best with your work.
Andrew

Have you people lost your mind? You are doing tutorials for a plug in that cost upwards of $900.00? For those of us who are struggling to keep up, struggling to earn a few pennies on the dollars, this is insulting. Do you think most of us can shell out this kind of cash?

Looks like I may have to find another avenue to enhance my skills.

Thank you for taking the time to post.

In the fourth and final part of his tutorial series on creating and controlling simple eyes in 3ds Max, Andrew Devis shows how to use manipulators to control the upper and lower eyelids of the eyes we have created. To do this, Andrew demonstrates how to use wire parameters to link specific manipulators to more than one object such that the eye lids of both eyes are controlled by one set of manipulators to ensure that they are synchronised. In addition, Andrew also shows how to lock transforms to limit possible mistakes while animating.
