Hi,

Great tutorial!

However, at one point, you suggest to render out a transparent layer with timecode to prevent splicing with the razor tool.

Isn't it just easier to lock the layer you don't want to be affected by the razor tool?

Hi Richard

Thanks for your comment. The answer is yes and no, yes in that you can then keep the whole thing un-tounched without affecting it. But no in that when you actually start cutting bits up in your timeline you don't really want to end up with long stretches of space with the untouched transparent layer at the top and your cut up clips below. By rendering it out, you can cut them both together and move alone to the next one without having to scroll your timeline back and forth.

Either is fine, but I prefer to just render out one copy to use over all footage and cut it with the footage and keep everything tight on the timeline.

Hope this helps
Andrew
