CreativeCOW presents Poser & Vue Integration Within C4D -- Cinema 4D Tutorial

One of the wonders of the C4D platform is it's interconnectivity with other sources of 3D models. Let's be honest, who has time to handcraft thousands of blades of grass or populate the night sky one star at a time? But using the content available in Poser and the generators found in Vue, it takes just a little longer then this 5 1/2 minute tutorial to put that content into C4D for integrated scenes and robust animations.

This tut requires C4D 10+, a recent copy of Poser, and the VUE Xstream plugin for C4D; with all apps available as trials on their respective websites.

Jiggy,

I liked your tut very much. Good job!

Do you know if PoserPro 10's plugin will work with C4D R12? What about InterPoser?

I have used Vue since 2008 and like it, but I've found xStream to be pretty worthless on the Mac. It's so dang slow. I'm hoping that the next version will constitute a breakthrough since E-On Software is finally building a 64 bit Mac version. I imagine the RAM requirements must be very high so that could make a huge difference.

Thx for the vote Craig! Unfortunately, I think ALL plugins have to be upgraded to work in C4D Studio 12. I have not tried to install but the docs say it won't work. So I am doing my work in 11.5, and playing around with Studio 12, which I really like. The picture viewer improvement is what I like, it now acts like a live preview window among other nice improvements. All the component registrations gone now, so that's not a headache anymore.

But the short of it, we have to wait for the new v12 format from the vendors. It's just like CS4 32-bit to CS5 64-bit. I'm still waiting for most of my plugs to get updated, and have to use PS in 32-bit. Arg.

On Vue, r u using the standalone or the plug? I have 8.5 plug working in c4d 11.5 and it works grand, albeit with the infamous Vue crashes and whatnot. But performance is fine as I render out to other machines and do it at night. And this is on an iMac! But we have more time then work here in Nepal:)

Cheers,
Jigs

Jigs,

Nepal! Holy Crap! That's wild.

I see where Interposer already has released an upgrade to r12.

Honestly I haven't played with the xStream plugin in C4d in a while. I was irritated with running c4d in 32 bit mode and had a couple of bad experiences.

I have been trying to stall until Vue 9 comes out...but I have a project that might not permit me that delay.

I am one version behind on poser pro and am debating buying interposer or upgrading to poser Pro 2010. Any recommendations?

(If I buy interposer, I'll delay upgrading poser for 3-4 months)

Hmmm...which one to choose, Interposer or Poser 2010 Fusion.I like both, and have more experience with Interposer. But Fusion is very simple and seems to work fine, and I am using all my old Poser 7 runtimes. Here is a link to a project that I am working on now:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/coocooforcocoapuffs/
It's gunna be an animated web interface and is composed using C4d, Poser Fusion, and Vue plug. Fusion is doing a good job here, as that's the DAZ 3D Antares model at the core.

Well, thanks for the tip on Interposer for v12, gotta get the update and see what's up...cheers,
jigs

If I failed to answer your questions...

I have been using R12 just for about 3 days. Love it so far! Can't wait for my 3 or 4 favorite plugins to get updated.

Don't feel too bad about 32 bit photoshop. I've been quite disappointed with sluggishness of CS5. I don't think Adobe has polished the performance yet.

I have the full Vue xStream. I use standalone quite a bit...but not the plugin so much.

I'm just the opposite - the standalone bombs on one machine, so I never really use it. I would like too, but don't really trust it. But then again, I am just doing skies, water, and a bit of land - so the plug in works grand for that.
