Ha! Note to self: Read the comments first! That whole alt-c thing was a fun discovery.

I like your tutorial, direct, focused, and well explained via a very practical demonstration.

Regarding the use of Luxrender installs just in case anyone is not aware, the best place to find pre-built (versions that include additional features) versions of Blender is at graphicall.org. You'll surely be able to find a version for OSX that has luxrender installed by default.

Don't be concerned that these aren't official builds since Blender is an ever evolving application. These versions are often superior to the versions available on the Blender.org site.

happy blending!

I would like to see an updated tutorial on how to get and install luxrender for use with blender 2.58 and 2.59 versions and for mac. there is one for blender 2.56 on blendercookie, but it is very confusing and the luxrender webpage has also changed.

Not sure I will keep experimenting with that, might make for a good tutorial.

In the mean time here are some related posts about this. If you scroll down the posts the users here have pointed out some valuable links.
