ATTO Technology celebrated 25 years in business by showcasing its entire portfolio of products, including Thunderbolt Desklink devices, ThunderLink and ThunderStream, and the entire line of 16Gb/s Fibre Channel products, including Celerity Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs), the FastStream SC SAS/SATA RAID Storage Controller and FibreConnect Switches. Also highlighted were ExpressSAS/SATA HBAs and RAID Adapters and FastFrame 10Gb/s Ethernet Network Interface Cards (NICs) and Converged Network Adapters (CNAs) will be on display. ATTO products were also featured in over 60 partner booths.

"Twenty-five years ago we developed the first solid state storage technology in the world," said ATTO Technology Vice President of Marketing Wayne Arvidson. "That's how we got expertise in managing latency and streaming data. Now we have 64 partners who have built technology around ATTO products."

Among the company's newest high-performance storage and network connectivity products, ATTO Technology demonstrated its complete line of 16Gb/s Fibre Channel solutions, including Celerity Host Bus Adapters (HBAs), FastStream RAID Storage Controllers, and FibreConnect Switches. Also on display was ATTO's ExpressSAS/SATA HBA and RAID Adapter family, including next-generation SAS technology. Also on show were ATTO's FastFrame line of Network Interface Cards (NICs) and Converged Network Adapters (CNAs) that leverage ATTO's expertise in FibreChannel and Ethernet technologies and its Thunderbolt technology-enabled Desklink devices, and ThunderStream that enable connectivity to infrastructures for laptops, Ultrabooks, and all-in-one computers being used for on-location and on-set applications.

ATTO's Celerity 16Gb/s Fibre Channel Quad-Channel Host Bus Adapter (HBA) provides the high bandwidth and low latency and scalable connectivity, at twice the maximum throughput of previous solutions, addressing the needs of Linux and Windows platforms in high performance computing, and virtualization. "ATTO is excited to launch of this industry-first quad-channel 16 Gb/s adapter," said Arvidson.

Currently available for OEMs, Celerity 16Gb/s Quad-Port Fibre Channel HBAs support higher IOP capabilities for the increased storage requirements required by virtualized workflows. Celerity 16Gb/s HBAs currently support VMware 5.1 and Windows Hyper-V Server 2008R2, with Server 2012 updates scheduled for late Q1 2013. The Celerity product line features ATTO's Advanced Data Streaming (ADSTM),

ATTO's new 12Gb/s HBAs achieve up to 8,000 MB/s to enhance the performance of streaming media applications today and are designed to be applicable to next generation platforms and infrastructures. ThunderLink and ThunderStream Desklink products provide high-performance storage and network connectivity for Thunderbolt-enabled devices, enabling portable devices such as all-in-ones, Ultrabooks and laptops to connect to external 6Gb SAS/SATA storage, 8Gb Fibre Channel and 10Gb Ethernet networks for on location, on-set or in-suite editing and management of data. ThunderStream adds RAID protection to SAS or SATA storage and both now support Windows 8.

A complete portfolio of 10GbE connectivity for efficient audio and video workflows was showcased with ATTO FastFrame NICs and CNAs. Another demonstration highlighted ATTO's Multipath Director, which permits direct connectivity to enterprise storage not just for servers, but also workstations. As a universal SAN connectivity solution for Mac, Windows and Linux workstations and server environments, Multipath Director increases productivity and protects data through load-balancing and fail-over.

JMR Electronics selected ATTO Technology as the storage technology source for its latest SilverStor desktop SAS/SATA RAID storage solution. With ATTO's ThunderStream RAID controller, users can directly connect Thunderbolt-ready Ultrabooks, all-in-ones and laptops to JMR's storage solutions.

SGO now also relies on ATTO Technology for its 2D/3D creative toolset Mistika. ATTO Celerity Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) provide a vital connection to enable Mistika's speed. SGO's Technical Director Javier Moreno states "ATTO's technology plays a significant role in helping SGO to deliver high-end workflows and creative solutions," said SGO Technical Director Javier Moreno.

FastStream Storage Controllers were designed to address demanding performance requirements while providing reliability and data protection for SAS or SATA JBOD storage.

Arvidson noted why the company has accrued so many partners over the years. "We were the first company out with a 16GB RAID controller and quad channel host adapter," he said. "That's why we have so many partners. They're always looking for that enhanced performance, whether it's going to 4K, stereoscopic 3D, or High Frame Rate, those things drive bandwidth and low latency is critical. We make the enabling technology."

With its long list of partners, ATTO Technology products are the backbone of stories told by the dozens of companies that utilize it to enable today's cutting edge workflows. As the company constantly pushes itself to lead the latest technologies, its developments are a bellwether of where media will be going...another good reason to pay attention to what's coming out next at ATTO Technology.

NAB 2013: Bob Zelin: The Evolution & Revolution

Calling Bob Zelin one of the industry's most respected voices of engineering and systems experience is an understatement. (We might also have to add "most feared.") For over 20 years, he has been at the leading edge of building next-generation post houses and broadcast facilities using the latest, greatest, and most affordable new technology. He's also been around long enough to have seen through an awful lot of hype, so when Bob drops the "R" word, it's because he really believes it's revolutionary himself. His coverage of the 2013 NAB Show is once again don't-miss reading.
