Hi Andy!

I'm super new to all of this and am interested in making motion loops. I have *probably* a really dumb question. I have Motion 5, not Motion. They look almost identical but I don't have some of the editing options you have. For example, I could get the right blue background you started with. But when it was time to click on the "generator" tab, I don't have that. I even looked it up in Help and "no results". I was wondering if there was a newer training on this or if you know how to do this in Motion 5.

Also, while I'm learning about motion 5, I'm trying to spin a logo really fast, kind of like the old school Batman signal. I can't do it in FCP unless you know a way! Do you have any training on spinning graphics or know of a link that would help?

I know this all sounds really elementary, thank you so much in advance for your time!

Sometimes it can be difficult to determine where your project differs from the tutorial. Here are some things to check. First, the placement of the playhead isn't that important. I made it 30 seconds because most bkg loops you see are 10 or 30 seconds. But in reality, as long as you know specifically how long you want your loop to be, that's enough.

Make sure that your project length is longer than the loop you want to make. IE: If you want a 30 second loop, make the project 35 seconds or so.

Don't make your clones until you've completed the animation.

Make sure when you create markers on the clones that they are on the same frame.

When you move the clone layers, make sure the markers snap to the beginning and ending of the loop point (use the range out point to mark the loop point).

Move the marker +1 frame past the loop point.

Use a RAM preview if your machine isn't fast enough to playback in real time. It's the best way to see if the loop point is working.

If it still isn't working, try deleting the clones and remake them.

I seem to be having issues with the looping. Are you setting you're playhead to 29:29 or 30:00? I've tried advancing +1 frame from both times and neither seem to loop...
