At NAB 2012, Anton/Bauer introduced new products and programs that underlined the company's commitment to developing power solutions for the industry's top cameras. A part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company, Anton/Bauer unveiled its QRC-CA940 Gold Mount solution for the new Canon EOS C300 digital cinema camera, to streamline battery management for users of this new camera. The RC-CA940 provides 7.2V of power to the camera via a DC connector and 14.4V on (3) PowerTap connectors. Canon's new camera features a Super 35mm sized Canon CMOS sensor, DIGIC DV III image processor and 50 Mbps 4:2:2 codec.

Anton/Bauer Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Shin Minowa pointed out that the QRC-CA940 operates similarly to the company's other Gold Mounts but offers three PowerTap outputs rather than the typical one output. "The more accessories we can power in addition to the camera, the better," said Minowa. "This Gold Mount was designed so that users will not have to monitor multiple batteries, therefore reducing downtime in the field, as well as the number of chargers needing to be transported."

The QRC-CA940 was designed to be compatible with the company's mounting bracket for 15mm or 19mm rod systems, the MATRIX Cheese Plate, or adapted to third-party support systems (15mm or 19mm clamp kits sold separately).

To that end, Anton/Bauer also officially debuted the MATRIX Cheese Plate, a new mounting plate that mounts directly on 15-mm or 19-mm rod systems, allowing for easy mounting for Gold Mounts on a variety of cameras including the Sony PMW-F3 camera and NEX-FS-100; Canon EOS 5D Mark II, EOS 7D, EOS 60D Digital SLR camera and the EOS C300; Panasonic AG-AF100 series professional HD camera and RED EPIC digital cinema camera.

These Gold Mount solutions can also be used on support rigs from Cinevate, Zacuto, Shape, Redrock Micro and Genus and, in some cases, a pouch configuration; the Anton/Bauer QR-PD/HDV is the recommended pouch style adapter for the Sony NEX-FS-100.

The company also introduced its new Customer Support On-Site Maintenance Program at NAB 2012. According to Minowa, the company has expanded its role "to help clients manage inventories and get the best performance from Anton/Bauer batteries, chargers and accessories conveniently at their own locations."

The new Program will provide a customer support representative to visit production facilities to help manage inventories. For a nominal fee, this representative will update charger software, conduct battery testing, remove old batteries for recycling, complete minor repairs, replace banana and communication pins, provide tools, spares and instructions for replacing a broken pin, clean units, review status of all Anton/Bauer accessories and have PCBs on-hand to complete major repairs.

Anton/Bauer has a clear understanding of the challenges facing today's production facilities: a need to do more for less, with reliable, cost-effective solutions. That's reflected in the newly introduced Customer Support On-Site Maintenance Program as well as the increased support offered by the Gold Mount solution for the Canon C300 and the MATRIX Cheese Plate.
